<p><br /> A British soldier killed in Afghanistan on Friday has been named by the Ministry of Defence as Corporal Stephen Walker.<br /> </p><p><br /> The Royal Marine, from 40 Commando Royal Marines, was injured in an explosion near Patrol Base Almas, in the Sangin area of Helmand Province.<br /> </p><p><br /> Cpl Walker was on foot patrol with the Afghan national army when he was wounded.<br /> </p><p><br /> The total number of British personnel killed in Afghanistan since operations began in 2001 now stands at 286.<br /> </p>
