An oil tanker and a bulk carrier collided in waters between Singapore and Malaysia on Tuesday. Authorities say about 2,500 tons of oil spilled into the waters. <br /><br />There were no reports of injuries among the 50 crew members. <br /><br />Sources say the tanker and the carrier collided in the Traffic Separation Scheme of the Singapore Strait. <br /><br />Singapore port authorities said the spill was located four miles south of Singapore's southeastern tip. <br /><br />A Malaysian coast guard said the collision caused a 33-feet gash in the left side of the tanker. <br /><br />More than 85 personnel in 20 craft were on site to assist with clean up efforts. <br /><br />Another 200 people were on standby to help clean up the Singaporean coastline, in the event that the oil reaches the country's shores.
