<p><br /> Dev Patel has reassured his mum that he is not engaged to girlfriend Freida Pinto after she read rumours claiming her son had popped the question!<br /> </p><p><br /> The actor, 20, met Freida on the set of Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire. The pair later came out as a couple in 2009.<br /> </p><p><br /> Speaking at the Last Airbender premiere in New York, Dev admitted that he had to set his family straight.<br /> </p><p><br /> "I was like, 'Mum, I honestly didn't get engaged, trust me.' Nothing's happened. Everything is absolutely fine. I'm just shooting a film'", said the star.<br /> </p><p><br /> The Last Airbender is the latest movie from Sixth Sense director M Night Shyamalan.<br /> </p><p><br /> Based on a popular Nickledeon cartoon, the movie is a 3D action adventure about the Fire Nation launching a war against the other elements - Air, Water and Earth.<br /> </p><p><br /> Dev said the movie is more mature than the animation:<br /> </p><p><br /> "It is strange because the cartoons are amazing but obviously in the first season it's a lot more funny. It's a bit more black and white in the cartoon and a bit more blown up to me to make the kids laugh."<br /> </p><p><br /> Meanwhile, it seems director M Night Shyamalan found the New York premiere of his latest movie a little daunting and compared it to walking down the aisle.<br /> </p><p><br /> "A little bit like a bride on the wedding day. It should be like your day to celebrate but I am worried about will the florist come? Will everybody enjoy themselves?" the director said.<br /> </p><p><br /> The Last Airbender is out in cinemas in August.<br /> </p>
