<p><br /> Southern China is braced for more heavy rain and flooding, as Tropical Storm Conson heads towards Guangdong and Hainan.<br /> </p><p><br /> Workers raced to build waterways to drain overflowing reservoirs in south-eastern China and thousands were evacuated following torrential rain and flooding.<br /> </p><p><br /> In Linxiang County, Anhui Province, workers blasted through part of a dam to relieve the high water levels that threatened nearby villages.<br /> </p><p><br /> In western China, the death toll from landslides triggered by heavy rains rose to 41, with dozens still missing.<br /> </p><p><br /> Heavy rains overwhelmed three reservoirs in Poyang county in northern Jiangxi province, forcing the evacuation of more than 10,000 people.<br /> </p><p><br /> In addition to Hainan, parts of Guangdong province and neighbouring Guangxi region will see torrential rains over the next 24 hours as Conson moves toward the northwest at 9 to 13 miles per hour.<br /> </p>
