2008 Bangalore Bomb Suspect Surrenders

Abdul Nasser Madani, an extremist leader of the regional People's Democratic Party, has surrendered to police in Kerala.<br /><br />Madani has been charged by a court in Karnataka over his alleged role in the 2008 Bangalore blasts.<br /><br />That event saw a series of nine bombs explode in which two people were killed and 20 injured.<br /><br />Police say the blasts were caused by crude low-intensity bombs triggered by timers.<br /><br />Madani held a press conference in Kerela state ahead of his surrender.<br /><br />[Abdul Nasser Madani, People's Democratic Party Leader]: <br />"I would like to surrender myself as soon as possible. Now everything is in the hands of the court and I will obey what it decides for me."<br /><br />Madani spent nine years behind bars in connection with the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blasts and was released from jail in 2007.<br /><br />The series of blasts were ahead of an election rally, killing 58 and injuring over a hundred others.
