Nestor Kirchner is the former president of Argentina and currently a power broker in his wife's government.<br /><br />Kirchner oversaw the country's recovery from a devastating economic crisis during his term from 2003 to 2007. He is currently the secretary general of Unasur, the Union of South America Nations.<br /><br />Officials say he is in stable condition after being rushed to hospital with heart trouble for the second time this year.<br /><br />[Alfredo Scoccimarro, Presidential Spokesperson]:<br />"He is doing very well. He watched the basketball game and is very happy that Argentina won."<br /><br />Doctors said the 60 year old was recovering well after undergoing an angioplasty.<br /><br />[Alfredo Scoccimarro, Presidential Spokesperson]:<br />"Dr. Nelson Kirchner, on the first day after a coronary angioplasty, is evolving satisfactorily. Post-procedural studies were conducted and the patient's results indicate a normal evolution."<br /><br />Kirchner is expected to run for president next year. If victorious, he would replace his spouse, Cristina Kirchner.
