Quetta, September 13: August 26, 2006 – a charismatic leader, Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti was killed in a bombing operation by Pakistani secret services agencies. It was a big loss for the Baloch people who still remember their leader while they carry on the struggle for their freedom. On Bugti's 4th death anniversary, a complete shutdown and strike was observed in Balochistan. The main city centres of Quetta presented a deserted look and only a small number of people reported for work in government offices. It clearly reflected the resentment against Pakistan's illegal occupation of the region and oppression of the Baloch people.
