Six People Killed in Karachi Violence

It was a deadly scene on the streets of Karachi, Pakistan Monday. Several vehicles were torched and a slew of shootings left six people dead. Here's more on the story.<br /><br />Pakistani police report that at least six people were shot dead and three vehicles torched in the commercial hub of Karachi on Monday. <br /><br />Two people from the minority Shi'ite community, two from a religious Sunni group and two others affiliated to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were gunned down by unknown assailants in different neighborhoods of the city. <br /><br />One of the victims was killed in crossfire when protesters from a Shi'ite funeral clashed with government security forces. <br /><br />Later on Monday, unidentified people burned tires after torching at least three vehicles. <br /><br />Karachi is the country's main port and financial centre. The city has a history of factional, ethnic, religious and political violence. More than a hundred people have been killed in targeted attacks since June of this year.
