Another melamine food-safety scandal in China. Authorities in Shanxi province have arrested 7 people suspected of producing 26 tons of melamine-tainted milk powder. <br /><br />One of the arrested, Wang Zhigang is the general manager of Jinfulai Dairy Company, which produced and sold the tainted dairy product throughout China and overseas.<br /><br />If Wang and the others are charged with food safety crimes they could face the death penalty.<br /><br />Melamine is a toxic chemical used in plastics production, but it's also high in nitrogen and has been used by some dairy producers in China to fool protein content test.
