Authorities have tightened curfew measures imposed in provincial capital Srinagar.<br /><br />India's restive Kashmir Valley remains tense Tuesday after authorities tightened curfew measures.<br /><br />This comes in the wake of incidents of sporadic violence that have taken place across the region in recent months.<br /><br />A heavy contingent of police and paramilitary troops were seen patrolling the deserted streets of Srinagar, after a brief relaxation in the weeklong curfew on Saturday.<br /><br />Marketplaces were completely shut down and barbed wire fencing and barricades were erected, as army vehicles patrolled city streets.<br /><br />The curfew call comes a day after a delegation led by India’s federal interior minister visited the region to assess the situation.<br /><br />At least 100 people have been killed in the three-month-old protests, the biggest since an armed revolt against New Delhi's rule broke out in 1989.
