The town of Levski is an administrative centre of a municipality with population of 12 141. It is a small town situated in the heart of the Danube Plain, North Bulgaria.<br />By the name of Karaagatch (Black Elm tree) the settlement has existed since the Ottoman empire.<br />In 1897 the village was named after the Bulgarian Apostle of Freedom Vasil Levski.<br />Small, but picturesque, nowadays town attracts the attention to its pretty houses and gardens.<br />In Levski, birthplace of the popular Bulgarian actor Georgi Partsalev, there is a house museum “Georgi Partsalev” with stage costumes, books, furniture, icons and other belongings endowed by his mother.<br />The River Ossam crosses the whole municipal land, Shavarna Park in particular, near Levski, – paradise for forest and fishing fans.
