Colin Firth on new movie The King's Speech

<p><br /> British favourites Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter have been chatting about their new movie, The King's Speech.<br /> </p><p><br /> The film charts King George VI's struggle to overcome his stammer and lead Britain into World War 2.<br /> </p><p><br /> The movie was well received at the Toronto Film Festival and, speaking at the London premiere, Colin said he was enchanted by his royal character George VI:<br /> </p><p><br /> "It's an extraordinary story about a man who kind of lived in the shadows and didn't want to come out. One of the things that's been striking me as I talk about it is that he obviously had to be the voice of his country during World War Two.<br /> </p><p><br /> "The guys on the other side were Hitler and Mussolini and Franco and they were using this medium to very great effect...and this fellow felt like he couldn't even speak."<br /> </p><p><br /> Helena Bonham-Carter plays the Queen and Geoffrey Rush plays Firth's vocal coach.<br /> </p><p><br /> The film is already being tipped for Oscar glory with experts predicting that Colin may get a Best Actor nomination. Colin was nominated last year for his performance in A Single Man.<br /> </p>
