They demand more funding.<br /><br />Demonstrations in Greece's capital Athens start peacefully -- but Thursday's protests in front of Parliament quickly turned violent.<br /><br />Students marching in protest of educational reforms -- that they fear will include education funding cuts -- strike police with flag post and hurl projectiles.<br /><br />The students eventually relented after police retaliated with batons, pushing the demonstrators back with their shields.<br /><br />Students are asking for more funding and resources for education at a time when the government is cutting public expenses in order to reign in massive debt.<br /><br />They are saying education has long been a victim of insufficient government funding - and should be spared from austerity measures.<br /><br />The university students say they will begin sit-ins at universities over the reforms, which are not expected to be announced until next month.
