Samsung want Galaxy tab to rival iPad

<p><br /> Samsung says consumer response to its Galaxy Tab tablet had been strong and sales of the handheld device would exceed one million units this year.<br /> </p><p><br /> Samsung unveiled the 7-inch model, powered by Android version 2.2, in Europe and other Asian countries earlier.<br /> </p><p><br /> "Consumer responses have been quite good (in Europe and Southeast Asia). I said in Germany that more than a million units will be sold by end of this year. I think I can keep my word. I think it's possible to meet the one million sales mark this year," said JK Shin, head of Samsung's mobile division.<br /> </p><p><br /> The Galaxy Tab runs on Google's Android 2.2 operating system, also known as "Froyo"<br /> </p><p><br /> Shin added: "There's a controversy whether Froyo is a suitable software version for tablet devices, but we produced a quality Galaxy Tab with Froyo 2.2 version. I think consumers will see how great a device it is after using Galaxy Tab."<br /> </p><p><br /> The country's largest mobile phone carrier launched the device before Apple's iPad entry into the South Korean market in an attempt to grab a bigger share of the local tablet market.<br /> </p>
