New ambassadors add glamour to trade mission

<p><br /> Handbag designer Anya Hindmarch and Jimmy Choo president Tamara Mellon have been appointed business ambassadors by David Cameron.<br /> </p><p><br /> The announcement came as Mr Cameron arrived in Beijing for his first visit to China as Prime Minister.<br /> </p><p><br /> Mr Cameron extended to 32 the roster of ambassadors first created by his predecessor Gordon Brown, adding not only Ms Hindmarch and Ms Mellon but also David Reid of Tesco, Brent Hoberman of lastminute.com and Nick Fry of Mercedes.<br /> </p><p><br /> The unpaid ambassadors will "bang the drum" for Britain with their worldwide business and academic contacts and will assist UK businesses to recognise and exploit business opportunities overseas.<br /> </p><p><br /> Aides said the aim was to ensure that the full range and diversity of British talent is represented in the network, which is expanded from 25 under the Labour administration.<br /> </p><p><br /> Mr Cameron said: "I am delighted that some of the most experienced and successful people from business and our universities are working with us. Their knowledge, skill and dedication to British business will play a key role in opening markets, increasing trade and encouraging investment."<br /> </p>
