<p><br /> Chelsea defender Ashley Cole says he considered leaving England over the summer but was told he was staying put by manager Carlo Ancelotti.<br /> </p><p><br /> The 29-year-old appeared close to quitting the Barclays Premier League champions and keen to flee the country at the height of his off-field troubles, but Ancelotti had other ideas when the pair spoke after the World Cup.<br /> </p><p><br /> "I think there was a time in my head where I thought I needed to leave England," the 29-year-old former Arsenal left-back revealed.<br /> </p><p><br /> "I sat down with the manager and he made it clear that I was going nowhere, so that was the end of the story."<br /> </p><p><br /> Asked whether he could now see himself finishing his career at Stamford Bridge, Cole replied: "Yeah, I hope so.<br /> </p><p><br /> "I've got three years left. All fit and well I hope to see out my contract here and hopefully win some more trophies."<br /> </p>
