A cyclone hits in India's Gujarat state. It’s expected to cause high tidal waves, making it very dangerous for local fishermen.<br /><br />Cyclone storm Jal has hit the Indian state of Gujarat with heavy rain and strong winds. The storm is also likely to trigger high tidal waves.<br /><br />The meteorological department has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea.<br /><br />[Mohan, Fisherman]:<br />"The cyclone is approaching and that's why we are pulling our boats out of the sea. We have to take all our boats because of the heavy tide."<br /><br />Local authorities are preparing for the worst.<br /><br />[Ajitsinh Zala, Deputy Collector]:<br />"All the departments including police, fisheries, port and other departments like the STB, state transport are taking all precautionary measures after the cyclone warning."<br /><br />This year the monsoon has been particularly heavy across India, causing damage worth millions of dollars.
