<p><br /> Honking their noses and flopping down the street in giant shoes, some 200 clowns have marched merrily through Mexico City on Wednesday (December 15) in a parade honouring the country's patron saint, the Virgin of Guadalupe.<br /> </p><p><br /> Day of the Clowns has become an annual event in Mexico, attracting entertainers of all shapes and sizes.<br /> </p><p><br /> Many carried images of the revered virgin as they headed towards the end point of their pilgrimage, a basilica built in the saint's honour.<br /> </p><p><br /> Throughout the march, clowns gave little gifts to children they met en route. Jugglers and stilt-walkers kept onlookers entertained.<br /> </p><p><br /> The clowns later filed into the Basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe, where they took part in a special mass. A priest blessed the clowns with holy water.<br /> </p>
