Joan came down to the contest as a wildcard, and was unlucky in his heat in round 3 against Adriano. The small conditions were definitely a setback for the most part, but Joan made the most of the very ‘Maldive-esque’ reef waves, and a few sessions at the beachbreak on the northern coast.
