A young Chinese economics teacher and the notion of citizen diplomacy have soon become a national phenomenon covered by biggest newspapers, web portals and other major medias in China.

The young man who is named Dee Woo and teaches IB economics in Beijing Huijia Private school, has written a letter to President Obama in early October to persuade him not to pursue a Sino-American currency war which will have devastating consequences for both countries.

“Seek communication and not confrontation. Chinese and American people have a lot culture and ideology differences. Citizen diplomacy is a great way to bridge that gap. In the age of free trade and globalization, citizen diplomacy can facilitate a country's trade, culture exchange and many other things. I think this grassroot movement is good for China's democracy and communication. It can evolve into something which can make really positive change to Chinese conscience structure." Mr. Woo said.
