That's according to a statement posted on Zhao's blog Tuesday night.<br /><br />In the note, Zhao thanks the Chinese regime and says (quote) "I feel deeply sorry for the remarks I made against the government in the past."<br /><br />But some rights defenders, including his former lawyer, doubt the statement really came from Zhao. They say it was likely made under pressure from Chinese authorities.<br /><br />Zhao Lianhai had been an outspoken advocate for children sickened by melamine-tainted milk. Last month, a Beijing court sentenced him to two-and-a-half years in prison.<br /><br />Zhao vowed to appeal.
