A surfboard shaped like a bowling pin is taken out for a surf in the waters off of the Manhattan Beach Pier. The pin, an art work named for surfer Kelly Slater explores the nature of heroes. Although Kelly Slater is not a bowler, his drive and charisma would most likely have taken him to the top in whatever he chose.
