<p><br /> A blaze triggered by fireworks has torn through a five-star hotel in China, according to state media.<br /> </p><p><br /> The fire in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province occured shortly after midnight on the first day of Chinese New Year.<br /> </p><p><br /> Around 50 guests staying in the hotel were evacuated and there were no casualties reported.<br /> </p><p><br /> Fire engines arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames that reached the top of the hotel, the tallest building in Shenyang, reaching 219 meters (718 feet) in height.<br /> </p><p><br /> The initial police investigation indicates the fire was triggered by fireworks, which accidentally sparked off the external wall of the building.<br /> </p><p><br /> Fireworks celebrations throughout the country are common during Chinese New Year and often produce several reports of injuries and fires caused by fireworks.<br /> </p><p><br /> In 2009, an illegal fireworks display destroyed a hotel building attached to the unfinished, ultra-modern China Central Television headquarters, one of Beijing's most architecturally daring developments.<br /> </p>
