Fireworks in Hong Kong for Year of the Rabbit

<p><br /> Hundreds of thousands of people in Hong Kong have watched a giant fireworks display on the second day of the Year of the Rabbit.<br /> </p><p><br /> Fireworks chase away evil spirits and are at the heart of the Chinese New Year celebrations.<br /> </p><p><br /> The Year of the Rabbit, which opens at the end of a year of tremendous economic growth in China, is traditionally believed to bring prosperity and success.<br /> </p><p><br /> It is also predicted to be less violent than the recently concluded Year of the Tiger.<br /> </p><p><br /> "OK, I want peace around the world and everyone healthy. And a lot of happiness, OK," said Ricky Tsang who watched with his wife and young child.<br /> </p><p><br /> According to Hong Kong astrologers it is also a good year to get married, have children and start new relationships.<br /> </p><p><br /> "Healthy, lucky and prosperous," said Gloria Lee who watched with her boyfriend.<br /> </p>
