The shuffling of the President’s operatives will stretch the administration more than 600 miles, from Washington DC to Chicago, in an attempt to separate the reelection effort from President Obama’s current role as Commander-in-Chief, a move that is not without pitfalls. The likely link between the two will be David Plouffe, Obama’s campaign manager from 2008, who is currently in place in the White House to keep the President and his staffers abreast of the campaign events and issues. Plouffe will have the difficult role of ensuring that communication between the two locations is clear and ongoing, and that the message sent to American from both the White House and the campaign HQ is consistent.
