PDX Bridge Festival is a nonprofit organization with a mission to raise public awareness and foster appreciation of the Willamette River Bridges through educational, cultural and artistic programming. In our first year (2010), we produced almost 60 events at 27 venues around the city, setting new standards for how a collaborative and wildly creative approach to civic events can result in a celebration of lasting significance. Our bridge art installations brought almost a million commuters into a close encounter with public art, and our Brunch on the Bridge event transformed the Hawthorne Bridge into a grassy park fit for a picnic of thousands.
