High Security for ASEAN Summit in Jakarta

Indonesia's military and police are full on in preparing security ahead of the 18th summit. Leaders, foreign ministers, and senior officials from member countries are due into Jakarta on Wednesday.<br /><br />Leaders and senior officials of ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) are heading to Jakarta for their annual summit this week.<br /><br />And to ensure their safety, thousands of military and police rehearsed security measures over the weekend.<br /><br />The presidential security squad, Indonesian Special Forces, the military and police will be helping secure the city.<br /><br />Hosting the 18th ASEAN Summit is seen as an honor here, so the authorities are making sure their security is ready.<br /><br />[Agus Suhartono, Indonesia Army Chief]:<br />"This morning we had a demonstration of security readiness for the 18th ASEAN Summit 2011."<br /><br />Suhartono says the military and police will work together.<br /><br />[Agus Suhartono, Indonesia Army Chief]:<br />"Regarding the number that will be involved in the event, there are enough and we will work together (army and police)."<br /><br />Members of ASEAN include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Burma, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
