Paleontologists and sculptors have worked together to create models of prehistoric mammals – some of them mythological...<br /><br />Just about every child has been fascinated by prehistoric animals, and Zdenek Triskala was no exception.<br /><br />He fulfilled his dream, and now works recreating the lives of ancient mammals in contemporary exhibitions.<br /><br />[Zdenek Triskala, Exhibition Creator]:<br />"We are standing next to one of the largest mammals of the Ice Age. It is Elasmotherium. Or sometimes also translated as a unicorn. It's real form of the mythical unicorn. This animals have been found on cave paintings and is thought that they served as a symbol of abundance."<br />Children in particular adore the exhibition:<br /><br />[Petr Novak, Exhibition Visitor]:<br />"This exhibition presents the animals in full life, how they lived."<br /><br />The exhibition is based on paleontological evidence, and was created in cooperation with experts from Charles University.<br /><br />Collaboration between artists and scientists isn't always easy, but can be beneficial.<br /><br />[Zdenek Triskala, Exhibition Creator]:<br />“The sculptor can give life to the model, and the palaeontologist ensures everything is correct. The combination of both, so called paleoart, is exactly what we're trying to achieve."<br /><br />Two exhibitions about prehistoric mammals have been created.<br /><br />The first exhibition is on tour across South America and the second, bigger exhibition is here in Prague.<br /><br />NTD News, Prague, Czech Republic
