The 12-year-old bridge is a vital traffic link in Wuyishan City.<br /><br />A bus driver was killed on Thursday when a bridge collapsed in southeast China's Fujian Province. The bus he was driving crashed, injuring 22 of the passengers on board.<br /><br />Local authorities say the tourist bus was driving onto the Wuyishan Gongguan Bridge in Wuyishan City in the morning, just as a section of the bridge collapsed.<br /><br />The injured passengers were taken to the hospital.<br /><br />The arched steel bridge is almost 990 feet long and 59 feet wide, and is a vital link between the Wuyishan Mountain Resort and Provincial Highway 101.<br /><br />The bridge took three years to build and cost $2.6 million. It opened to traffic in 1999.<br /><br />The cause of the collapse is unknown.
