Authorities took him away in late February this year.<br /><br />According to Ran's friend and prominent rights lawyer Pu Zhiqiang, Ran was charged in late March for so-called "inciting subversion," but the case was sent back to police.<br /><br />Pu says although Ran has been released, he'll be under house arrest for six months. Ran won't be allowed to have visitors without permission or speak publicly.
