A mass vigil on the steps of Georgia's capitol.<br/> These are supporters of Troy Davis, a convicted murderer who is scheduled to be executed Wednesday.<br/> He's set to die by lethal injection at 7 pm local time in the southeastern U.S. state.<br/> He was convicted of the 1989 killing of police officer Mark Macphail near a Burger King in Savannah, Georgia.<br/> Davis' execution has been delayed three times by courts, but this time the Georgia board of appeals denied his request.<br/> The case has attracted international attention, and has become a focus for death penalty opponents.<br/> The reason -- seven of the nine trial witnesses have since recanted their testimony, and his supporters say he's been falsely tried, and may be innocent.<br/> MacPhail's family says Davis is guilty and should be executed.<br/> With his latest appeal request denied, it is likely that Davis will die tonight just before sunset.<br/> Travis Brecher, Reuters
