Don't get hung up on the DNA evidence --- this was the message from prosecutors in the Amanda Knox's appeals case.
Guliano Mignini urged the court to consider all of the evidence as prosecutors wrapped up their first day of closing arguments.
SOUNDBITE: Chief Prosecutor Guliano Mignini saying (Italian):
"When you go to make your decision, remember. There is that, that and many other things that I will try to tell you and remind you. It would be unpardonable not to remember, because, since you have heard the conclusions of the DNA material, there is a new element, even more important that the others."
A new report has cast doubt on the DNA evidence used to convict the American college student of murdering her roommate in the apartment they shared in Perugia.
British national Meredith Kercher was found lying semi-naked in a pool of blood. Prosecutors argued that Knox and her then boyfriend Rafaelle Sollecito killed Kercher as part of a frenzied sex game.
The defense is expected to present its closing arguments next week and a verdict could decide Knox's fate as early as October.
Deborah Gembara, Reuters.
