Genital warts are a type of sexually transmitted disease, caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They constitute only one type of wart, but there are many different types of warts caused by the different subtypes of this virus. The other types include the common wart, the periungual wart, the planar wart, the flat wart, etc.
