Workers return to Libya's Amal oil field

Libya welcomes back oil workers with open arms.<br/> Several companies have sent small teams to the eastern Amal oil field near Sirte.<br/> The oil-rich area used to produced 210,000 barrels per day.<br/> But production came to a standstill during Libya's seven-month uprising.<br/> Now companies are hoping to get operations up and running again.<br/> (SOUNDBITE) (English) SAAD ALI ESHIEM, AMAL FIELD GENERAL MANAGER, SAYING:<br/> "More than two weeks, we start our production and now we're something around 50 percent and insha'Allah (God willing) in two or three weeks we can reach the maximum production."<br/> (SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED LIBYAN WORKER AT AMAL OIL FIELD, SAYING:<br/> "We try to do our best and to get the production and operation back online as soon as possible but with the minimum loss and minimum mistakes."<br/> The process could take several months, depending on the conditions of the wells and pipes that haven't been used in eight months.<br/> Amal, the third largest oil field in Libya's East, is also one of the country's top four producers.<br/> Jessica Gray, Reuters
