A Syrian-born man appears in a Virginia courthouse - charged with acting as an agent for the Syrian intelligence service.<br/> Mohamad Anas Haitham Soueid - a naturalized U.S. citizen - is accused of collecting video and audio recordings of people in the U.S. protesting against Syria and President Bashar al-Assad.<br/> Court documents said he is also accused of recruiting others to collect information about protesters and sending the information to the Syrian embassy in Washington and Damascus.<br/> The Syrian embassy denied he worked for the Syrian government - and said he never received payment, met with Assad or passed on information about U.S. protesters.<br/> Sarah Irwin, Reuters
