Adele, U2, Coldplay win at Q awards

EDITORS NOTE - GRAPHIC LANGUAGE WITH USE OF OBSCENE HAND GESTURE.<br/> One of the biggest nights of the British music industry calendar, the Q awards, saw Adele, U2 and Coldplay winning big.<br/> Adele, who's had a stellar year with her latest album "21", has recently been plagued with throat problems and is being forced to rest her dolcet tones.<br/> She wasn't present to collect her two gongs, for Best Female and Best Track for "Rolling In The Deep".<br/> Her male counterpart Tinie Tempah won for Best Male, while U.S. singer Bon Iver won Album of the Year.<br/> The most memorable speech of the night should have gone to Noel Gallagher, who won the Q Icon award.<br/> He reached number one on Sunday (October 25) for his first solo album since splitting from Oasis.<br/> SOUNDBITE: Noel Gallagher, Musician, collecting award, saying:<br/> "I've won a lot of these in the past and I want to say, this is the most recent."<br/> The Best Act in the World Today went to Coldplay, who's about to embark on a new tour to promote their new album "Mylo Xyloto".<br/> The band are frequently criticised for being overhyped by lead singer Chris Martin had a message to the haters.<br/> SOUNDBITE: Chris Martin, Lead Singer of Coldplay, collecting award, saying:<br/> "Even the people who think we're the shittest thing on the planet, we salute you and say fuck you." (MARTIN STICKING UP TWO MIDDLE FINGERS)<br/> The Hall of Fame award went to Queen, and guitarist Brian May was on hand to collect the gong.<br/> SOUNDBITE: Brian May, saying (English):<br/> "Yeah if you stick around long enough people start to think, hmm, better give them something. It's a very nice feeling to be viewed in that light.
