A state of emergency in Dublin, after torrential rains triggered severe flooding in the Irish capital, leaving at least two people dead.<br/> The weather service said more than one month's worth of rain had fallen over a 24 hour period.<br/> Rail services have been suspended, roads have been closed, and many shops and homes are submerged.<br/> (SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED MAN, SAYING:<br/> "I've never seen anything like this in the last day in 38 years. I'm living in Tallaght 43 years and I've never seen anything as bad as this."<br/> (SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED MAN, SAYING:<br/> "It's really bad, yeah. The cellar is completely destroyed and the bottom floor I suppose is ruined. Luckily the kitchen is on the second floor so it's not so bad."<br/> Dublin City Council has activated its major emergency plan and has sent teams out to evacuate badly hit houses and to help clear flood waters.<br/> A number of ferries to and from Dublin have also been cancelled, and incoming flights have been diverted to other airports.<br/> Travis Brecher, Reuters
