American icons take center stage.<br/> Oprah Winfrey returned to her roots to host a live, yet intimate conversation with fashion designer Ralph Lauren.<br/> The one-time-only event benefited The Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention.<br/> Stars from the fashion world and Hollywood came out to learn a little bit more about the man behind the iconic brand.<br/> Lauren's oldest son Andrew said the night held great significance.<br/> SOUNDBITE: Andrew Lauren, Ralph Lauren's son, saying (English):<br/> "A lot of people know the brand, they know Ralph Lauren the name. But I think to really get to know the person is important and it's important for his legacy."<br/> Over 20 years ago the U.S. designer made a personal and professional commitment to help find a cure for cancer.<br/> In 2003, he partnered with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to establish The Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention, a hospital-based cancer treatment facility in Harlem, New York.<br/> Actress Naomi Watts.<br/> SOUNDBITE: Naomi Watts, actress, saying (English):<br/> "Ralph Lauren's been very instrumental and donated a huge amount to support this center that is about preventing cancer and treating people who don't have the financial aid or needs."<br/> Proceeds from the event also benefited the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the world's largest performing arts center.<br/> Alicia Powell, Reuters.
