Floods force Thai tanks into retreat

Thai military secure an armoured personnel carrier to a truck as floodwaters reach the front of a military base in Bangkok.<br/> A total of 16 APCs were moved to a military base in a non-flooded province some 350 kilometres north of Thailand's capital.<br/> Meanwhile, angry flood victims tried to access a flood gate, demanding more water be released into the San Seab canal - as they have been flooded for nearly a month.<br/> Thai media reported the protest began on Sunday when residents outside the protection of the flood wall started dismantling flood defences.<br/> The protest continued for seven hours, until officials agreed to open the water gate slightly.<br/> Thailand's floods have killed at least 381 people since July, and affected more than two million.<br/> Nick Rowlands, Reuters.
