Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in the Northern California city of Oakland.<br/> They are marching in what they call a general strike against economic conditions and police brutality.<br/> Some of demonstrators vandalized a branch of Wells Fargo bank.<br/> Another building was pelted with chairs.<br/> Though they fell short of their aim to paralyse the city, they did shut down operations at the Port of Oakland.<br/> Protesters gathered at the port gates and stood on top of container trucks in the street<br/> The city was catapulted to the forefront of the national anti-Wall Street protest movement after a former Marine was badly wounded during a rally last week.<br/> More than 800 people have been arrested at anti-Wall Street rallies in New York City since protests began in September.<br/> Marie-Claire Fennessy, Reuters
