Amateur video out of Syria shows soldiers gathered around a pick up truck in a southwestern town amid the sound of gunfire.<br/> The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters comes as the United Nations is warning that the country is in a civil war.<br/> More footage, purportedly shot in a town near Aleppo shows demonstrators back on the streets calling for an end of President Bashar al Assad's regime.<br/> Video from Homs shows a funeral march. The United Nations says some 4,000 people have been killed in Syria since the uprising began in March.<br/> Syria is facing increased economic sanctions and condemnation from many governments over what the UN calls "gross human rights violations".<br/> On Thursday Syrian Television aired footage of Assay hosting a delegation of muslim scholars from Lebanon.<br/> Lebanon, which has close ties with Syria, voted against the Arab League sanctions announced Sunday.<br/> State TV also aired footage on Wednesday showing people who were detained for protests being released from prison.<br/> The government said more than 900 people were released.<br/> Syria has banned most independent from the country making it difficult to verify accounts from activists or the government.<br/> Deborah Lutterbeck, Reuters.
