Deadly blasts hit northeastern Nigeria

The aftermath of a bomb attack in northeastern Nigeria that left at least six people dead.<br/> The attackers targeted police buildings and banks, and used explosives and automatic rifles in their assault.<br/> The area's police commissioner confirmed that one policeman, one soldier, once civilian and three suspected attackers were killed in the incident.<br/> Witnesses said two banks were looted and two police buildings were set ablaze.<br/> The Islamist sect Boko Haram, whose name translates to "Western education is a sin", has been blamed for dozens of attacks in northeastern Nigeria this year.<br/> Last year the group carried out a prison raid, freeing around 700 inmates.<br/> It also claimed responsibility for bombings in the capital Abuja earlier this year that killed 24 people.<br/> Travis Brecher, Reuters
