It’s the latest in a string of traffic accidents that has drawn public ire across the country. <br /><br />The bus fell into a ditch as it veered off the road to avoid a pedicab, the Xinhua News Agency reported. <br /><br />Another eight children were injured in the accident, which happened after school on Monday. <br /><br />Local authorities said most of children drowned after the bus overturned. <br /><br />Yesterday we reported that the Chinese regime is stepping up its oversight of school bus safety. It comes on the heels of a nationwide outcry over the death of 19 children when their nine seat school bus, crammed with 64 passengers, collided with a truck in November. <br /><br />Agence France Presse reported the Chinese regime’s cabinet has laid out a draft aimed at improving safety standards. <br /><br />Mandatory regulations include biyearly safety checks, as well as the installation of hammers, fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
