The aftermath of a bomb attack in southern Afghanistan's Kandahar.<br/> According to provincial officials, a suicide bomber killed at least four children and a policeman, and wounded a dozen other people near a police checkpoint on Tuesday.<br/> (SOUNDBITE) (Pashto) ABDUL QAYON POKHLA, HEAD OF THE KANDAHAR PUBLIC HEALTH, SAYING:<br/> "We have recovered five bodies including four children and one policeman and 15 wounded from the blast scene. The wounded are receiving treatment."<br/> A local official said the bomber was targeting the police checkpoint.<br/> Despite the presence of tens of thousands of Western forces in Afghanistan, the United Nations says violence is at its worst in the country since U.S.-led forces toppled the Taliban in late 2001.<br/> Travis Brecher, Reuters
