Mubarak trial resumes

2012-01-17 11 Dailymotion

ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION
PLEASE NOTE: THIS EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL
Egypt's former President Hosni Mubarak arrived at court in Cairo on Tuesday (January 17). A judge last week gave the prosecution and defence until February 16 to make their case in the trial.
The prosecution have demanded the maximum penalty - the death sentence - for Mubarak and his former Interior Minister, Habib El Adli for their role in the killing of protesters during the revolution which toppled them last February.
Some fear that the multitude of witnesses, complexity of charges and the prosecution's difficulty in obtaining evidence from the security services might make it easier for the defence lawyers to push for a lighter sentence for Mubarak and his co-defendants.
Mubarak is the first leader toppled by the wave of protests in the Arab world to stand trial in person.
