A truck loaded with rubble from the 2010 earthquake crashed in a hilly area in Port-Au-Prince, killing at least 26 people and injuring 57 others on Monday (January 16).
Authorities say the driver lost control, and drove the truck into an obstacle. The vehicle then sped down the road, and plowed past cars and motorcycles.
The driver fled the scene after the accident.
The truck was transporting piles of concrete, steel and other debris that still litter the capital and surrounding areas two years after the earthquake.
The accident came less than a week after the second anniversary of the quake, which killed 300,000 people and left much of Port-Au-Prince covered in rubble.
