Personal Messages, 'Close-Ups' and the Richard Crowne Interview

2012-01-20 92 Dailymotion

'Close-Ups' is the video introduction of the play ‘Personal Messages’, performed at East Los Angeles College in November of 2011. ‘Close-Ups’ consists of non-chronological fragments of scenes, (shot in close-up), from the second section of the play and a full scene which reveals a critical story point. The performance was characterized by the use of multi-media, text messages received by the audience, fragmented narrative structure, environmental staging, movement of the audience from scene to scene and audience participation. By design, the play necessitated the active acquisition of narrative, visual and aural cues derived from immersion in the environment and the technological interface.

The play is set in a gallery/nightclub owned by Richard Crowne. Crowne is a right-wing philanthropist who attempts to bribe a U.S. Congressman using information discovered on the internet.
