The violin and the cello represent Sherlock Holmes (violin = exalted ; cello = depressed). The brass, in particular the tuba, represent his partner, Dr. John Watson. <br />All the drawings are from Sidney Paget (1860-1908), the first illustrator of Sherlock Holmes.
