His trial was Friday.<br /><br />Zeng Hanlin, now 66-years-old, was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment and slapped with a two million yuan fine. He was found guilty of contract fraud.<br /><br />China and Canada do not have an extradition treaty, but Zeng was still sent back to China after he failed to appeal for refugee status in Canada.<br /><br />Zeng's Canadian lawyer, Daniel Kingwell, says his case could set a precedent for other Chinese fugitives seeking refugee status abroad.
