Former United States President Jimmy Carter said this week that he hopes President-elect Barack Obama will immediately begin pursuing Middle East peace talks once he takes office. Carter said he was thrilled by Obama's election and praised his victory as heralding a new approach to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. He added that Obama should waste no time to start working on the negotiations, noting that the past two presidents had waited until their last year in office before addressing the peace process. 11/12/08
